Choose a clear upper line
The short white blouse with a ruched front creates a clear accent above the long fitted black skirt. The contrast comes from both colour and length. If you own a similar skirt, try an existing pale top first. It does not have to be equally short: a neatly tucked T-shirt can also make the waistband visible. Check that you can sit comfortably without the top constantly pulling free. The base should work without repeated adjustments before you choose extra layers, jewellery or a different bag.
Relax the daytime version with knitwear
A fine jumper or relaxed cardigan changes the skirt's character. Keep the extra layer relatively short, or wear it open if you want the waistband visible. Flat closed shoes are a practical choice for longer walks. Check your stride because a long fitted skirt can restrict movement more than a fuller shape. A day involving many stairs may call for a useful slit or a less restrictive cut. An attractive combination should accommodate the movement you have planned rather than feeling comfortable only for a few standing minutes.
Make a focused evening change
The white blouse and black pointed pumps create a sharper evening version. A small bag and one more noticeable piece of jewellery can finish the change. If you prefer flats, keep them and change only the top; the skirt does not require a prescribed heel height. For a weekend, one dark skirt, two tops with different characters and a shared jacket may be sufficient. Lay out the complete outfits beforehand so you do not pack an extra layer that suits only one brief occasion and remains unused for the rest of the trip.
