Begin with the contrast
A navy blazer, burgundy top and black cycling shorts bring different clothing styles together. Instead of hiding the contrast, keep it clear: an organised collar above and a straightforward sporty base below. White trainers create a pale break. You do not need more bright colours if these three dark shades already provide enough variety. Choose the relationship deliberately rather than adding accessories automatically.
Check the shorts independently
Close-fitting shorts need to feel comfortable without the blazer too. Walk and sit to assess the waistband, leg hems and opacity. Do not rely on a long jacket to provide coverage through every movement. If you prefer another level of coverage, choose longer shorts or a looser alternative. The main idea of combining a blazer with a sporty lower layer still remains available.
Keep the blazer movable
Test the shoulders while reaching forward and the sleeves while bending your arms. A blazer that fits only over a very thin layer offers less flexibility on cooler days. Leaving it open keeps the burgundy top visible. If you expect to carry the blazer over your arm, the top should also suit the occasion alone. Check whether pocket contents change the jacket's hang significantly.
Turn the combination into a real-day outfit
A black handbag can repeat the shorts colour. For a longer route, a comfortable strap may be more practical than a bag you must hold continuously. Try the white trainers with the socks you intend to wear and plan another outer layer according to the weather. This is not automatically an office outfit simply because it includes a blazer. Choose it for an everyday occasion whose conditions you know, substituting suitable longer trousers when needed.
