Let the neckline provide the shape
A black sleeveless top with a square neckline gives grey wide-leg trousers a defined upper line. Try the shape without a large necklace first. Small earrings or a watch are enough if you want another detail. Check the straps through ordinary movements: they should not keep slipping outwards when you sit or lean forward. Whether sleeveless clothing works at your office depends on its setting. An open cardigan or blazer can add coverage without completely hiding the neckline that makes this foundation distinctive.
Allow the pleats to fall freely
Pleats need a little room to fall quietly from the waist. If they pull open strongly while you are simply standing, try another size or a less restrictive waistband. A thick top stuffed inside the trousers can add bulk in the same area. Choose a smooth hem and distribute it around the waist rather than collecting all the fabric at the front. Then sit briefly and stand again. The combination should settle with only minor adjustment. A belt is useful when it performs an actual job, rather than as an automatic addition.
Choose shoes beneath the wider leg
Black shoes pick up the top and keep the palette simple. With wide trousers, however, hem length comes first. Walk in the intended pair and check that fabric neither falls under your heel nor needs lifting continually. The sleeveless foundation may be enough during the warmer part of the day, with a relaxed jacket added in the morning. Pack that layer without leaving its sleeves trailing from the bag. A small pale bag is one possible variation if the overall black-and-grey combination feels darker than you prefer.
