Connect navy and black deliberately

A navy mini skirt does not need exclusively blue accessories. A white shirt creates a clear contrast above it, while black tights and black lace-up boots connect the lower part of the outfit. Look at the combination in daylight so you can see the distinction between navy and black. A slightly open shirt front can feel relaxed; choose the opening according to the occasion and your preference. If the shirt is long, decide deliberately between tucking it in and wearing it loose, rather than leaving the visible skirt hem entirely to chance.

Do not skip the seated check

Sit on an ordinary chair wearing both the skirt and tights. Check whether the two waistbands press together and whether the skirt returns to position easily. Tights should neither sag at the crotch nor depend on constant pulling. Use the size information for that particular pair and test the fit instead of buying only by a familiar number. Then walk a few steps and bend your knees. This reveals whether the combination is likely to stay comfortable during a longer journey or a café visit, rather than only while you stand still.

Add boots and an outside layer

Lace-up boots allow some adjustment around the ankle, but tight lacing should not squeeze your foot. Check the edge where the boot meets the tights and take a short walk before the outing if possible. In cool weather, add a coat with a hem that remains comfortable when seated. Choose the bag for what you need to carry; a heavy shoulder strap can keep moving a loosely worn shirt. If you will change shoes indoors, check the outfit with that pair too, so you are not dealing with an unfamiliar length only after arriving.
