Choose the T-shirt beyond its colour

With pale straight jeans and dark canvas trainers, a white T-shirt provides a simple foundation. Check its sleeves when raising your arms and the neckline when leaning forward. A shirt that feels comfortable alone can sit differently when tucked in. Decide on the hem together with the jeans. A dark belt can make the waistband visible if you enjoy that separation. If the trousers stay in place without one, the belt is a visual choice rather than a necessary addition. Keep other details minimal at first so you can assess the base clearly.

Test the straight leg with the shoe

Straight leg does not mean identical width across every pair of jeans. See how the hem falls over the dark trainers and walk several steps. A little contact can work, but the fabric should not slide beneath your heel. If you roll the hems, make both turns deliberately similar and check whether they stay when seated. Wear the socks you intend to use later. A low shoe collar can feel different at the heel from a higher pair, so the colour combination alone does not establish comfort.

Turn the base into an errands outfit

For shopping or several short appointments, add a bag that is easy to manage. Decide where your phone, keys and small purchases will go. An extra jacket can stay open without changing the main colours. Assess the white T-shirt in daylight and check its opacity with your intended underwear. For a longer day, lay out the complete outfit the evening before. This helps you notice missing clean socks or an unsuitable belt before it is time to leave. The simple base then remains simple in use, not merely in appearance.
